EAST AFRICA
In many ways, MissionConnect has been working in East Africa since 2012. Here, many of our current training leaders, pastors, and key community leaders were developed as part of a sports evangelism movement led by Mike Contreras throughout the region. As the sports ministry fields went from camp ministries to church planting efforts, relationships with the young men became paramount for our success today. In 2019, a combination of these lead trainers began seeking sustainability options as they look to the future of their respective countries. Countries such as Burundi, Uganda and Zambia have led the charge. With Swahili being a common cultural language and English considered a “trade” language, MissionConnect has sought to solidify the individual countries into a succinct gospel impact region.
